Can I upgrade just the FCKEditor somehow or is that a stupid ?

I am personally gonna wait for the core team to upgrade (one day soon I hope) but I am sure you could do it yourself - there is a thread on CKeditor you could search for.

I haven't tried it yet, but here is a ckEditor provider for DNN.

I've upgraded minor versions just fine along the way, often ahead of the upgraded provider release. I doubt that would work for major version jumps, but might be fine to try.
