Hi,

I'm looking to tidy up a site for my father's business.

I've been reading up a bit through the DNN help, and been going through the Admin settings, but there's still a few things I can't do how I want them.

Here's the site as it stands

And here's a rough idea of where I want to get it to

Basically I want to do a few things:

 - Add a banner with his name/logo... can't see a spot in the skin to do this.

 - Remove all the menus, time/date, heading, seach bar across the top...

 - clean up the footer (ie. delete the copyright, terms of service, privacy statement... simply or delete the DNN link if i can?)

 - probably change around the colours/fonts etc...

What do I need to do?  Assume I need modify the skin to insert a header and delete the other bits.  How do I download the skin currently used, edit it, upload it?  Can I do this through the DNN Admin interface (tried, couldn't find it), or do I need to get onto the web host ftp and do it through there?

Any tips to point me in the right direction would be appreciated....

Cheers,

Scott

  • First, for security reasons, I suggest upgrading the site to a latest version, 4.9.5 (I'd prefer) or 5.1.2
  • Latest version comes with a much smother default skin you may use for your adoptions
  • I'd sugest as well to copy Skin folder to "mySkin" and adopt this one.
  • Set new skin for a single page (not start!) only until it is finished.
  • To add an image with logo and name, easiest is to upload as Logo in Admin :: Site Settings Section Appearance)
  • you may edit either skin.html and reparse the skin in Admin :: Skins or edit .ascx and remove skin.html file
  • new skin allows easy change of colours in CSS files.
