I was using Firefox, good call on that one.

Your code works like a charm, good fix!

Hello,

I believe that spaces in a filename is not valid with Firefox. It works in IE6 however.

To fix this, I edited Downloader.aspx.vb so that when a user downloads a file I replace any spaces with underscores. I tried encapsulating the filename in double quotes, and that works for Firefox, but IE6 doesn't like that.

So, the middle ground was to use underscores/hyphens/etc. or whatever you want; it just can't be a space.

All I added to Downloader.aspx.vb > Page_Load() was:

Dim temp As String = oRepositoryBusinessController.ExtractFileName(objRepository.FileName)
Dim strFileName As String = temp.Replace(" ", "_")

It works well, and now Firefox can associate your file with the proper application upon download.

cheers,
Rose

The FireFox "bug" is actually quite simple - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Filenames_with_spaces_are_truncated_upon_download

Just remember folks - IE is built to forgive and NN/FireFox, etc. browsers are there to point out all the errors back to you. And that's why I LOVE IE and Microsoft in general.
