Hi, The passwords for the dnn applciation is storing in aspnet_membership table with encryption.  We need to reuse the security module for other application depending upon the existing dnn application.  In other words we are going to develop an application for which we need to maintain the same security of the dnn application.  Now we need to validate their user name and password using a components ie class library.   We need to create a method which takes username and password as parameter and returns you the status.  I dont know how to implement it.  Can any one help me in this?

I am thinking to use the method UserController.ValidateUser(PortalId, txtUsername.Text, txtPassword.Text, "", PortalSettings.PortalName, ipAddress, loginStatus) in the namespace DotNetNuke.Security.Membership.  But I am not able to do the same in the class library project.  Please understand my situation and advice correctly.

Let me know if any body wants more information.

Regards,

User Account is implemented in DNN using MS membership component, i.e. if you use the same component with same machine key, you should be able to retrieve the user data including password properly.

Hello,

I was wondering if you had got this to work as yet?

I am needing the same solution. I have written a mobile phone application and i want the user to log into DNN before they can use the application.

I have installed the iWeb webservice add on and want to write a function to validate a username and password.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Trev
