Hi all,

Here's a tough one - for me at least.

I'm toying with the idea of having

1) Multiple Installations of DNN (With multiple portals that have given names, not the usual Portal Number) in IIS

2) Each installation sharing ONE database

However I do believe one fail point would be PortalController.GetCurrentPortalSettings.PortalId - would be returning a number which is universal to all Installations.

Is there a way to do it or am I just trying to do something weird?

Thanks all

Leonard

  1. What is your issue with portalID, this is used for path of user files only - anything else is handled by domain addresses?
  2. Multiple portals within a DNN installation automatically share a database. Using a single database by multiple installations is not suggested - there are challenges, cause the need to share ASPNET membership tables.
