On attempting to upgrade to 5.1.2 on Windows 7 I got an error message - SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

The resolution to this can be found in the following blog link: http://geekswithblogs.net/ProjectLawson/archive/2009/05/05/iis-system.web.aspnethostingpermission-exception-on-windows-7-rc.aspx

There is an AppPool setting that needs to be amended.

I have been running W7 since RC and RTM upon release within MS/MSDN and I have not seen this error.  Are you running the RC or RTM?  Have you checked your permissions?  I have noticed that W7 when installed restricts things even more than Vista and even resets many permissions when upgrading from Vista to W7.  Make sure you have Administrator, System, and Network Service with FC, Users RX, and Everyone R.  Then restart IIS and try again.
