How to install DotNetNuke to Root Path of your Hosting Account at Godaddy

You will be able to install DotNetNuke 5.1.4 release (currently latest DNN release available) application to root directory under of your Godaddy hosted environment. Before go on reading, make sure that you are using one of Godaddy (Deluxe or Premium) Windows plans.

View Highlights of DotNetNuke 5.1.4

Update:  A client reported that Economy plan is enough to install at root level. However i wont support this plan since some of my subsribers reported issues with AJAX related outcomes

As default, Godaddy does not allow customers to install DotNetNuke to root level. See offical KB Article at following link:
Can I Install a DotNetNuke in my Root Folder?

However with some effort, you can install DNN to root. I know it's not simple. But i had installed almost all releases from early DNN 4.x to DNN 5.1 release to root path with a good strategy.

Benefits

  • Install DotNetNuke to Root Path of Your Shared Hosting Account
  • Get Multiple Parent Portals Up and Running in a few Moments (e.g www.yoursite1.com, www.yoursite2.com, e.g www.yoursite3.com, downloads.yoursite3.com)
  • Get Better Indexing Results with Search Robots (I also provide custom DotNetNuke SEO Services on request)

Subscription Period and Price

Subscription periods are monthly or yearly, and my prices are very reasonable. e.g $4.99/month and $5.99/year

might want to make your post a little more clear ... in order to get this answer, you have to pay $4.99 or $5.99

two more things (covered in the previous link, but worth highlighing):

1) the free solution linked above requires a GoDaddy Deluxe hosting plan, not just the standard Economy plan ... only Deluxe will allow you to specify a "folder" as required in step 1b.

2) the free solution admittedly does not install DNN in the webroot on a GoDaddy server ... if that is your intention, perhaps the $5 or $6 would be worth it for the tutorial at the top of the page ... the free solution linked above uses the GoDaddy Managed Applications installer to do the heavy lifting, and then creatively reconfigures the hosting account so that your links start with www.mydomain1.com/ instead of www.mydomain1.com/dotnetnuke/

my goal was simply to remove the folder "/dotnetnuke" from my root url, so the free solution did the trick for me.

hope this helps.
