Hi,

i started developing a dnn 5 FirstModule module (VS Studio 2008, .net 2) from the WROX Professional DotNetNuke 5 book example, but instead of using the VB starter kit, i used the C# starter kit. The development source files are located under a virtual folder DesktopModules\company.FirstModule, inside my local DNN 05.01.04 portal installation and the dll files (company.FirstModule.dll and company.FirstModule.SQLDataProvider.dll) output is set to the portal installation bin folder. I did all the steps described in the book tutorial, ran the SQL script and imported the module manifest file, but when adding the module on a page, i get the following error:

"DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The type initializer for 'company.Modules.FirstModule.DataProvider' threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'company.Modules.FirstModule.DataProvider' threw an exception. ---> System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String ObjectProviderType, String ObjectProviderName, String ObjectNamespace, String ObjectAssemblyName, Boolean UseCache) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String ObjectProviderType, String ObjectNamespace, String ObjectAssemblyName) at company.Modules.FirstModule.DataProvider.CreateProvider() in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DNN_514_Dev\DesktopModules\company.FirstModule\Components\DataProvider.cs:line 60 at company.Modules.FirstModule.DataProvider..cctor() in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\DNN_514_Dev\DesktopModules\company.FirstModule\Components\DataProvider.cs:line 52 --- End of inner exception stack trace --- ..."

Any thoughts that might help?

thanks

 Hi again,

sorry for the mess up. I just forgot to replace the 'YourCompany_' with 'company_' to the SQLDataProvider class.

Issue is solved.

thanks
