I am trying out the newsfeed module for the first time - and I get a download error.

Feed 'http://www.africafiles.org/rssatissue1.asp' could not be loaded. Error: Download error

I have checked the feed and it is valid by w3c standards. I use dnn 5.1.4

Any idea of what causes this problem?

I am having the same problem.  I just installed the newest  DNN5.1.4 and tested the news feed module with the most common feed from google and yahoo and none is working.  Whats going on?

I also started receiving this error just a couple days ago for a feed that was working and I didn't do any upgrades or configuration changes to the site.  So, upon investigating I found that the place where the feed was coming from had changed the document type (MIME) to application/rss+xml and forced it download as a document (i.e. if I browsed to the URL my Firefox didn't show me the feed like usual instead I got the download dialog box).  So I change the feed to the one at the Wall Street Journal and that still worked (I don't know why but I always use it as a test, probably because it always seems to work: http://online.wsj.com/public/page/rss_news_and_feeds.html?mod=djmr_rsspodcast).

I'll post here when and if I find a solution to getting my original feed working.  Does the WSJ work on yours?  I wonder if the server knowing how to handle the document type might be the problem?  I'll start there.
