We are creating a simple form with a text field which will be edited a few times a year and I would like to know if I can save a copy of this text field automatically when it is changed?   Sorta like placing a time stamp on an edit but saving a copy of the particular record instead.

You are asking about versioning of fields.

This is currently not part of the roadmap, but may get to the agenda one day when these kind of features get more support by the DNN Core.
