Did you give the ASP.NET worker process read/write access to the DNN directory? If not, do that. This should've been checked before the install began, tho. If you added files to the directory after setting the permissions, this might be the problem, too. Sometimes Windows likes to keep old permissions when files are moved around.

I didnt set any permissions as this is a hosted account with Network Solultions. details for the hosting are here: https://www.networksolutions.com/web-hosting/advanced-web-hosting-package.jsp?tab=account

I can run asp.net applications and it comes with the SQL database, so I thought I should be able to run a .net application without having to change anything.

I uploaded the files into the root of my web, so I would imagine processes would have permissions set to this directory by default. Shouldn't they?

The root was completely empty before I loaded all the DNN files and afterwards. DNN was the only content.

Is there something I should ask the hosting provider to do?
