Please check that the ASP.Net worker process account (Network Service Account or ASP.NET Machine Account depending on your Windows version) has been given full permissions on all folders of the site including the root folder.

Thanx for your reply William,

the Network Service Account has a full permission for the website's folder .

another thing, each time i modify anything, lets say the skin and refresh the page i get the error:

Error: vbc : Fatal (0): error BC2000: compiler initialization failed unexpectedly: 0x80070005.

i have to build my website each time i modify anything so the skin works fine, is this related to the above problem ?

i figured out what the problem was

the temporary folder mentioned above is Windows/Temp folder, i gave appropriate permissions for this folder and the DNN modules are installed fine .
