Hi
The server manager here is planning on changing all our IP's. I've been trying to find some info on how to make this a smooth transition for our web site. We have two portals and Easy Active Directory module but aside from that its a pretty standard set up. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

The DNN install should only be associated with the domain name information (i.e. www.site.com or site.com) so an IP change should not effect it. As far as your site and DNS if that is handled by your server manager then you should not have any other concerns.  If that is not handled by them then you will have to update your website in IIS to use the new IP (if specifically listed) and you will have to update your DNS to use the new IP (i.e. map the www and site.com DNS entries to the new IP).  Does this answer your question?

I believe it does, thank you. Often times when something seems too straight forward I get scared that I am missing something and a second opinion. I'll probably still screw something up but at least I feel better about this now.

Thanks
Mike

Just to add to this.....

What we started doing was creating only a single A record that points to the IP address of our DNN installation.  For each portal's DNS record, we add an alias (CNAME) record that points to the A record that we defined.  That way, if we need to change the IP of our DNN installation (and all associate portals), we only have to change a single A record (instead of changing the records for each and every portal).

That is a good way of removing complication.
