Hi,

The module is great, and has come a long way in a short amount amount of time.  Having said that, this is a feature that I think makes a LOT of sense, and is long overdue.  The placement of the Event Module Settings needs to be moved out from the standard module settings.  Let me give you a typical example (and one that I'm running into quite frequently):  my customers are left with a site where they have a marketing person who is in charge of event planning, and an IT person who in charge of the web site, the Admin role.  The marketing person wants control of the Event calendar settings, rightfully so, because they can change quite often.  They also don't involve IT.  Currently, you can give Edit rights to the Events module, and this will give access to the Settings menu.  HOWEVER, this also gives a person access to ALL the settings of the PAGE, not just the Events module.  To an IT person, this is not permitted.  I think you see the problem.

What I'm suggesting is to simply move the Event Settings of the module into a separate menu item.  What do you think?  Has anyone else experienced this same situation?

Thanks!

Hi Doug,

I'm inclined to agree, though I don't know the pros and cons of this. I personally think we are restricted in the way it is done currently, and much prefer teh method used in the forum module for example.

I've no idea of the technical challenges to do this, but they shouldn't be insurmountable.

Any chance you can raise this request on Gemini?

Thanks
Roger

To a large extend I agree with your suggestion, especially since the Events module has so many settings.

But as for your conclusion on th page edit rights: it is possible to set edit rights to a module on a page and not grant it to the page as a whole.
