When in the design mode, DNN 4.9.x gives you 3 rows of panes to place your content, which include: Row1 (TopPane), Row2 (LeftPane, CenterPane, RightPane), Row3 (BottomPane).

This really seems insufficent.  Does 5.x give you more options?  I'd like to have a RightPane with a combined Left and CenterPane.  Or Left Pane, with a combine Right and CenterPane.

Since not using a row does not disrupt layout, why not have additional layouts to choose from?  Could someone direct me to the file that I need to modify to add additional panes for layout options?  Thanks

 Panes are controlled by the SKIN you have applied to the page, not by DNN itself. You can add panes by modifying the skin, or choosing a different skin.

The default skins are in the /portals/_default/skins/minimalextropy folder if you want to modify them.

Thanks!  For anyone else looking to to do this... I just modified the "index.aspx".

Here is what I added to give me a couple more layout options.

                       <div runat="server" id="TopPane"  class="TopPane" ></div>
                                <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                                    <tr>
                                        <td valign="top" id="LeftPaneTop" class="LeftPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                        <td valign="top" id="ContentPaneTop" class="ContentPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                    </tr>
                                </table>
                                <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                                    <tr>
                                        <td valign="top" id="LeftPane" class="LeftPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                        <td valign="top" id="ContentPane" class="ContentPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                        <td valign="top" id="RightPane" class="RightPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                    </tr>
                                </table>
                                <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
                                    <tr>
                                        <td valign="top" id="ContentPaneBottom" class="ContentPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>
                                        <td valign="top" id="RightPaneBottom" class="RightPane" runat="server">
                                        </td>

                                    </tr>
                                </table>
                                <div runat="server" id="BottomPane"  class="BottomPane" ></div>
