Hi All.

I know this question already came some times in the past. And yes, i tried http://searchdotnetnuke.com/ as the search function here is bringing more times a time out then a result.

However, how is it possible to get relative paths in links in the text of a HTML/Text Module?

EG: i have a subpage where i want to reference to in the text. But when i insert it on "localhost", better a server in my lan, the link will look like "myserver\blablabla" and won't work from outside. When i connect from outside and include the link it will look like www.xxxxxx.com\blablabla and when testing it from inside my lan i have to login again.

So, how to put a link like "portals\0\blabla" in the text and this link will stay like that?

Thanks

Kai

relative paths can apply to domain internal addresses only and are stored domain releative, which works fine, as long as relative path of the portal remains the same, i.e. localhost/default.aspx and www.mydomain.aspx or localhost/dnn/default.aspx and www.mydomain.com/dnn/default.ascx

Hi Sebastian.

As far as i understood your answer, my links should be "fine".

Exampe: i have a HTML/TEXT Module on Page A, which is a Subpage. In this text there is a link to a subpage B, which is one level below A.

The link, when creating it in my lan is:

http://servername/GallerienundSpass/AllesüberGolf/GolfTigerWoods.aspx

The link, when creating it from "outside" is:

http://www.mydomain.de/GallerienundSpass/AllesüberGolf/GolfTigerWoods.aspx

So, almost the same. But must i enter in the URL-Field that the portal recognizes that we are talking about the same site and it knows from where i come (LAN or outside).

Something like [portal]/Gallerien..... whould be great.

Hi Folks.

I found the reason: this is again an issue with the Friendly URL Provider coming with DNN. When switched off, you can place an URL into the text of a HTML/Text Module, and the link will work correctly when accessing the site from inside the LAN and (!) from outside over www.blablabla.

As i had this setting off in my old 4.9.5 DNN (as otherwise the gallery module threw errors) i did not have this on the radar when changing my site to 5.1.4 (no upgrade, parallel new installation) and at the same time used another gallery then the DNN-one.

I hoped that this would have been fixed now.

My workaround is:
- turn Friendly URL off
- recreate links in the HTML/Text-Module(s)
- turn back on Friendly URL to make the address-line looking nice

Disadvantage of this solution: all pages will be shown with Friendly URLs but these you linked to in any modules when Friendly URLs were switched off.

Cheers

Kai

Kai, please log your findings on shortcoming of the human friendly URLs into the public issue tracker (2nd from top) at support.dotnetnuke.com to get it fixed.

Thank you.
