Has there been any additional advancement with the new version of DNN on moving portals?  I have been doing a lot of searching on this, but most of what I find is a bit dated.

My specific issue is that I have a portal that was developed on someone's local workstation as a standalone portal (portal ID 0).  Now that they want me to move it to the server, it will become a different portal ID, and the majority of the links do not work because they are wanting to link back to portal 0.

Again, I see from posts in the past that this is not going to work, but am wondering if new developments have now made this possible without reworking the whole site.

Thanks in advance,

Sheldon

no, there haven't been much changes yet. DNN 5.2 will improve portal export and import to include settings, but none of the absolute paths will be modified. Best practice is moving DNN installations, not single portals.

You can use tools to search/replace some of the hard coded links. We have a free module called Engage: F3 that will search the Text/HTML module (it doesn't currently work for DNN 5, new release coming shortly).
