I've read (and implemented) as many speed tweaks as I can find over the years for DNN.

However, on one of the hosts I'm using I'm experiencing problems.  I don't know if it's host related or DNN installation related.

The problem is that I'm getting the message in the event logs like so:

Can anyone suggest recommended application pool settings that I can review with the host?

They sent this upon request (click to see it at full size):

Simply disable site recycle after 20 minutes (default) of inactivity should solve your issue.

Instead I prefer to recycle app once per nignt (3AM) and if ressouces are low.

Perhaps I need to describe the problem in more detail.  I've tested the site (just loading the same page over and over) and after a minute or less I usually have an unusually long page load (10-15 seconds) instead of the usual snappy response.  This coincides, on my clock, with the shutdown/startups in the event log.  The shutdown/restart cycle seems to happen every minute or two.

If my event log showed 20 minutes between recycles then disabling that 20 min default would probably have an impact but unless I'm being unusually dense (entirely possible) then ... well, I just don't get it.  Did you mean the session timeout default? Can you describe that solution a bit more obviously if you still think it's right?

Do you know of some site which keeps the best policies/ideas for 'Speed' in DNN?

Try Mitchel Sellers' site though there are others.  A regular suggestion is to only install the modules you need and keep your skins following best practices ... maybe M.S. has that tip in amongst his.

I'm sure there are other suggestions out there. Some of which I hope will come to this thread in the form of advice on settings to use for the application pool!

:)
