Hi!

I'm currently developing a module that uses a 3rd party dll. Obviously, if the 3rd party module is not installed, mine will throw an exception. I was wondering: where would be the best place to check for this?

Initially I thought to check inside the page_load event handler for my main view control, but the exception seems to occur before that event handler is executed...

Does anybody know where I need to put that check?

Thanks,

Frauke

you'd need to use the external dll by way of reflection, and check whether it exists prior to using it

you could also just make the module dependent on the exteral dll, by putting that info in the module manifest. that way, it will check during installation, but that will not help if the third party dll is uninstalled afterwards
