Can anyone explain me how can I customize a menu bar?
I want to change the color of the font, font style, and add a separator between each item of the horizontal menu.

I built a skin without xml file. It has something to do with it? If it has, how can I connect a xml file to my skin?

Thanks.

Carolina,

Depending on which of the menu providers you are using (Solpartmenu or DNNMenuNavigationProvider) the options are slightly different.

Here's a link to an indepth document on the skin tokens available in DNN5 and this also covers both menu options: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Development/Forge/GroupSkinning/Downloads/tabid/1254/Default.aspx

Here's an interactive skin reference as well: http://www.thinkofdesign.com/resources/dotnetnuke-skinning-reference/

The Skin.xml, or skinname.xml file is used to define the options of the menu, any options that aren't defined will use the default settings available and you can modify the CSS for these in the skin.css file as this will override the default settings.

There's a lot of options regarding CSS and XML settings, and you'll probably need to spend a little bit of time going through the documentation to get used to it.

If you have purchased a template skin, you can unzip the skin files to have a look at the CSS and this will help you understand which selectors do what.

Hope the above helps and if you need any further assistance please feel free to expand this entry, or contact me directly.

Regards,

Rick.
