have you checked compression and caching? do not use whitespace filter and gzip compression together. Another issue might be dynamic compression tturned on at server level.

Cleared cache, turned off cache, no compression, no whitespace turned on.  I'm very surprised that it is behaving this way right out of the box.  I have no production DNN sites as yet, so this isn't urgent, but it is odd.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

Update, this problem also appears in Host-Portals-Add.  My theory is that with nested user controls, the localized string isn't being read properly when DNN is installed to a virtual directory like www.mysite.com/portal.

Call me crazy, but I can reproduce this at will. If I can provide any additional information, please let me know.

please be aware, that DNN needs to be installed in the root of a web site or a virtual directory (configured as application, if running IIS7).

AFAIR there has been localization issues reported in DNN 5.1, which should be solved for DNN 5.2.0.

Hi Sebastian,

I installed the 5.2.143 beta as a test and I still see this issue.  Hopefully it's sorted out by the release date.  I do have the virtual directory configued properly, othewise the app would not run at all.

Thanks for following up.  If time permits, I look at the source code and see what's up...can't really implement anything until I get this working.

Ryan

Ryan,

if you got a lot of time, you may try to find the issue in the core release tracker at support.dotnetnuke.com. Please share your finding.
