Is it possible to copy the forum hierarchy (groups and forums) from one database to a new one?  I don't need to copy any posts/threads, just the forum definitions.  Are they defined in one table or is there a big spaghetti bowl of relationships?

Thanks!
Mark

While there is no 'IPortable" option available, if you are looking to directly use SQL this is possible. The only thing you have to do is track down portalid/moduleid (and potentially ModuleDefID). So, if you were to create a new forum on the new install/db what you could do is use the Forum_Groups table, then Forum_Forums table and you should be all set. If you go this route, you should only need to change the PortalID and the ModuleID and avoid copying the keys (ie. use and insert into the new db (Groups table) and have it return the new key to replace any dependent Forum GroupID's this way.
