I'm having trouble with an upgrade from 4.9.4 to 4.9.5 (not ready to move to 5 yet). I merged the web.config files, copied the update files over the existing web, ran install and it said everything completed correctly. The site seems to be working (haven't checked everything), but the Host settings still says 4.9.4 and Critial Updates Available.

Looking for clues where to look.

Thanks!

  • do not touch web.config file manually, when upgrading from DNN 4.6.2 or above
  • if you turned off autoupgrade in web.config, you need to call /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade to trigger db upgrade

Thanks for the speedy response!

I restored original files and database from a backup made immediately prior to the 1st attempt. Leaving the web.config untouched, I copied the upgrade files over the existing installation and ran /install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade as I had done in the first instance, got the same message (see below), but still have the same problem - still reports as V4.9.4 on the host settings page, and still says critical updates are available. Even more curious, the upgrade report shows a mix of 4.9.4 and 4.9.5 - it almost seems to think the database is at 4.9.5 but the application isn't.

Any other ideas??

Thanks!

obviously you are either unzipping the wrong files or files to the wrong place. Maybe there is an issue with the zip file or the unzip software used.
