My client emailed me today, saying his site has suddenly got lots of errors. Considering I havent touched it in some weeks, I was a little confused.

Firstly, the opening page gets these for all the modules on it..

And on another page containing only a HTML/Text module, i have this..

Im kinda lost, and not even sure where to start? Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

  • Which DNN version?
  • which Text/HTML version
  • is there a /adpp_code/HTML folder with code files inside?
  • are there /bin/dotnetnuke.modules.html...dll files?

Hi,

Since it's complaining about the SqlDataProvider, I'd start there.  Verify that the database is accessible, that the password/permissions weren't changed, etc.  I'd even use the connection string in the web.config and write a little test page outside of DNN to verify that you can get data back.  Something in their environment may have changed.

Look outside the app, network config issues etc.

Cheers.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time!  That stack trace is stating that it could not instantiate the SQLDataProvider, it threw an exception in the constructor.  I just checked the 05.01.04 source, and all it's doing is reading the connection string and getting some other settings from from web.config. Did someone modify the web.config?  Is it running on IIS7?

Now I'm curious...
