Hello,

I would like to display an image in a custom module.

I use the following syntax img class="infoimg" src="~/images/info161.png" />

and the image is placed in Images folder under the DNN root.

However, the image is not displayed and it's URL appears to be http://mydomain/dnnroot/modulename/~/images/info161.png (I am using friendly URLs) instead of the expected http://mydomain/dnnroot/images/info161.png. If I navigate to http://mydomain/dnnroot/images/info161.png manually, it is properly displayed.

Where should I place my images and what should be src so they can be displayed properly?

Thanks!

usually "~/" is used by resolveurl to resolve files in desktopmodule folder, e.g. for static images of your module, which should be placed inside your module directory.

/images is reserved for system images, while /portals/.. is reserved for user files.

don't use "~/blablabla" syntax, use PortalSettings.HomeDirectory or PortalModuleBase.ModulePath() or  PortalModuleBase.ControlPath and combine it with image name:

  • VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/images/")+row["Photo"]
  • PortalSettings.HomeDirectory+row["Photo"]
  • VirtualPathUtility.Combine(ControlPath, "images/img.jpg")
