Good evenening,

Today I was trying to install a fresh new ddn 5.0.4 installation on my hosted website. I had installed a test environment ,made all the content in this environment and was ready to deploy it on my hosted iis and sql 2005 server. For sure I had deleted everything in the old live environment, the database (tables, stored procedures) and filesystem. I copied a fresh new installing by ftp to the filesystem, run the install wizard and everything seems to work fine, until the install wizard is trying to install the database. I get the following error:

Installatie Database - Versie 05.00.00...MISLUKT ERROR: See c:\inetpub\www\boven195\www\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\05.00.00.log for more information

Well it is in Dutch, but it says that the installation of version 5.00.00 had failed and that the error details were stored in Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\05.00.00.log, but there is no logfile....

I tried several things like uninstalling/installing everything again, unfortunatelly everytime it fails with the above error...

I hope someone could help me solving this problem!

please always keep database and files as a unit when moving, backing up and restoring.

you never need to rerun install when moving a site, simply make sure, connection strings are adopted and portal aliases in portalalias table of the database.

Hi Sebastian,

The next time I will keep files and database together. But in this case I even can not run a fresh new installation of it.

clear and recreate the database, delete and re-unzip all files from DNN installation package.
