I tried doing a search but it keeps timing out on me, so here's what may be a stupid question:

Can I pull the navigation structure from a Parent portal to a Child portal?

For example:

My parent portal: http://www.protectyourhome.com

Child portal: http://www.protectyourhome.com/stlouis

I need the structure of the parent portal's navigation to be included in the child portal. I'm using a slightly modified skin on both portals.

We're using:

DNN 4.09.03

Modified version of DNN360TransMenu for navigation.

Unfortunately out of the box this isn't possible. Currently in DNN Portals have no relationship between each other, they don't share users or content.

You can hardcode the navigation into your skins, which is a common practice, but this limits your ability to modify (add/remove) items in the navigation.

You could also potentially write a custom module that would allow for this, but I imagine based on your design that the fixed navigation is likely to remain for most cases so putting it in your Skins is probably the path of least resistance for you.

Thanks. I kinda figured I might be looking at a tough solution.

My problem is I need to create 130 portals. I guess I need to find either a more elegant solution or a module that'll allow me to link all the portals.
