I did an upgrade from 5.1.2 to 5.2 using the Upgrade package.

The upgrade was successful, but I was not able to login.

I discovered that the machineKey settings in web.config had changed.  After copying the machineKey settings from my backup web.config file, everything is fine.

very strange, did it happen to you during upgrade, that database was not accessible (typical scenario, when machinekey is replaced).

Did you touch web.config manually during upgrade?

It seemed like a normal upgrade.  There were no errors.  I didn't manually touch web.config.
