This fields are required by the CORE.

Is there any workaround this?

It makes no sense in my site to have this two fields, in fact they really need to be removed.... or at least not required!!!

Any help is appreciated.

unfortunately, you will run into troubles w/o it, because many modules rely on those fields being populated.

Hi Sebastian... thank you for helping once more!

I've just tried to change those in the DB, and it does not work... like you said many modules rely on this fields... This is really a big issue to me... :|

It could mean I would have to Leave DNN for another CMS.

I think you've read some of my posts before, this is an  adult site, 90% of the users are couples, so I need Her/his name. the last name can't be there... I could however use the first name as HIS name ... but it doesn't work because both fields are required, and 10% of the accounts will be single users :|

This got me thinking... If I for example install something like Active Social or some other payed module.... will First and Last name still be required for registration?

Or is there any free/payed module that could go around this?

You need to use a 3rd party module. ActiveSocial or Dynamic Registration. The core sign up process is very inflexible and lacks usability - it has not changed in 6 years.

Here is a sign up form example with Active Social. It's not perfect but better...

Isn't that with SmartThinker?? the free one?

I've tried that but its nothing compared to the demo I've seen of Actvie Social...

I never tried Dynamic Registration (if you mean by datasprings)

But there's a problem Active Social and DataSprings are VERY Expensive.... and I would say that its not a good investment... at least for Active Social... because you can literally set up a social network site like facebook style... and that's very hard to develop...

But If you try other CMS, you see that they have more free options on this matter... or even the core it self gives you best options....

I mean DNN doesn't have checklists or photo upload data types for the User Properties. I love DNN in everything but this!

It would be great if in a new release of the community version we would at least have more Data Fields to use in User Properties :)

But nothing is perfect...

Another module I add problems to find was "Classified Ads" but DNNinfo has a nice free solution for that!

Anyway thaks for all the replies!
