I posted this earlier in this thread, but I want to try again, explaining it a little differently this time, in case that helps anyone suggest a solution.

I'm using the Forums Module 4.5.3 on DNN 05.01.04, and it appears that the Attachments function changes the filename of all files to a hash code.  Although the forum message displays the file's original filename, the actual file retains the hashed name.  Naturally, this behavior is not acceptable to me or my users, and so I can't enable attachments and have to tell my users to add files to their posts using a more complex method.

For example, a file named test-attachment.pdf is renamed to fc51780ff832423f8e56ca7d258fefed.pdf.  I've tested this on two different DNN installations and the behavior is consistent between them.

I'm not in a position to know if this behavior is a flaw in the Forums module or in LinkClick.aspx, which is used to serve the attached files.  Does anyone have any insights that might help me make sure I'm asking my question in the correct forum?

Have this been fixed? I started allowing attachment but found names be changed to hash code is not practical.
