I am skinning a layout for DNN and I'm now in the process of fixing all of the nit-picky problems between the different browsers. The current problem is that IE makes an ugly border around all of the menu parent directories when I hover over them. All I want to do is remove the border that appears when I hover over the menu.

By the way, I have already used the Internet Explorer development tools to disable all CSS and the hover border still appears no matter what my CSS I have implemented.

Here is the layout: test.coultertechnologies.com/

Hi, it looks like you're using MODisplay="outset" in your menu code. If you take it out it should remove that effect - it uses inline styles rather than CSS classes so you can't affect it with changes to your CSS files..

MODisplay wasn't being used, and even when I added it and set it to none it still didn't fix the problem.

Any other suggestions?

It looks like you are using Solpartmenu which is a big no-no.  It's no longer in development and the core team recommend no longer using it, especially not in new skins.  Use DNN Nav or a third party menu.  Or are you using DNN Nav?  The id's point to dnn nav, but there are also solpart references mixed in, to it's not entirely clear and maybe that's part of the problem?

Obviously there is a border setting in there somewhere.  Maybe from the default.css or portal.css or somewhere in a cascade that is setting the border.  Try specifically setting the border to "border: none 0px;" on the hover class and that should resolve it, regardless of what menu you use.

I've followed through the JavaScript and it's definitely doing the MouseOverDisplay="Outset" behaviour (which unfortunately you can't override with CSS). If you can post the actual menu tag you're using I can probably work out why. Alternatively, just drop in my free SolPartMenu upgrade and it should fix it. It uses the same styling as a real SolPart menu, so you don't have to change anything apart from the provider name, but it does work much better. And one of the few things it doesn't emulate is MouseOverDisplay="Outset".
