I am new to DNN and I just built my first Portal, the site working fine.

However, after I rebooting the server, the portal only works if I first open Visual Web Developer 2008 Epress and (Fn F5), then the website will page will open.

How do I resolve this issue?

Portal Website is located in the C:\\ Inetpub \ wwwroot \ dotnetnuke

Here are the details:

DNN - community Install v 5.1.1

Windows2003 Server STD SPK2 - all Windows updates installed

.Net 3.5

IIS installed

IE 7

Visual Web Developer 2008 Epress

SQL 2005 with SQL Server Management Studio Express installed

name of the database is dotnet, uid = dotnet, pwd = dotnet

Using SQL authentication and it works just fine.

What happens if you don't?  Log files, tracing, error messages, etc. please.

Ok, after the initial install using Visual Web Develper 2008 Epress, the portal launches just fine.

The portal address on the server is http://localhost:1027/dotnet

But if I shut down Visual Web Developer, the same address has the error "This page cannot be displayed"

This is the address http://localhost:1027/dotnet that displays the message

So, if I then launch Visual Web Developer, open the recent project (dotnet), then press (Ctrl+F5), the address works and the portal is up again.

The address http://localhost has the message "Under construction" this is the default page on the wwwroot site.

It appears that the portal is dependant on Visual Web Developer running, how can I correct this issue?

Should I build the portal without using Visual Web Developer?
