Hello all

I have 'inherited' responsibility for a PHP web site that has been created with the 'CMS Made Simple' CMS. I've never used PHP or a CMS, but I am familiar with ASP.NET, so I have started looking into CMS for ASP.NET because I was trying to investigate if it is possible to partially automate a conversion of the existing site to an ASP.NET version, as I reckon that would be a lot quicker than trying to learn PHP!

The existing site does not appear to be too complicated, I think it is only the content management that is PHP-based, the actual content of the site seems to be largely static. Microsoft have a PHP to ASP.NET 'Migration Assistant' that claims to handle a standard PHP to ASP.NET conversion, but I think in my case, the Microsoft utility would not really address the issue, as I doubt it would be able to handle proprietary CMS components correctly. I was wondering if a similiar utility has ever been developed for migrating PHP-based CMS to DotNetNuke? Otherwise I assume I will just have to look at rebuilding the site from the beginning.

Does this idea seem misguided to you - am I asking for too much, and am I approaching the problem in the wrong way? Any advice would be very welcome!

Thanks very much

Paul,

I am not aware of any migration support and I see problems to create an automated routine, because there are thousands of DNN modules, using their own data structures. Depending on the amount of content, either copy & paste or a custom sql command might be the best approach. There is no option to migrate any code.
