I am running Windows 2003 and IIS 6.  I have not acctually started to install notnetnuke yet, I wanted to check on this first.  I dont have a test box to play with and the box that needs dotnetnuke is a production box with a couple dozen web pages running on it already.

I have never used dotnetnuke and wanted to know if there was much of a chance of totolly hosing 2003 server or IIS if I dont get the dotnetnuke install exactly right the first try.

Thanks for all your input.

If you follow the installation documention, there is little chance that things will "get ugly". Just follow them to the letter. If your really nervous, try installing it on your workstation (it runs just fine on XP Pro).

Heck, you can even migrate it from your workstation to the sever afte your completed...

Thanks for the reply.

I guess I should have given more info in my original post.

The exact deal is this: I have portals running on one web box and static webpages running on another web box.  Because of reasons beyone getting into here, I need to move all pages (dotnetnuke) from one box to the box with static pages.  From looking at the install docs, it looks like I can simply create a new webdirectory on the ohter box, copy the webdirectory on one box to the other, and make dns changes and thats it.

Is that true??

Is there a problem with running static and dotnetnuke pages from the same IIS box?

Thanks again

It really is that simple...And there is no problem running any number of sites, regardless if they are html or dynamic, so long as IIS and DNS are configured correctly.

Thanks for al your input.

Unfortunatly it is not working like it should.  When I go to the page it says "you are not authorized to view this page"  I have double checked the permissions on the folder.  I have verified that the "netowrk service" has the proper permissions.

Any other suggestions??

TIA

Just found out something else.

I noticed that on the box it is being moved to had a different document default page.  The original had default.aspx first, I made the change on the new location and now it says page can not be found.  I know the iis is working because I typed in a url directly to a gif in the root of the website and it pulls up fine.  I also noticed that even though both boxes are win 2003 server with iis, the origninal has user account aspnet and the new location (Windows 2003 and iis6) has the network service account.  The more I dig the stranger it gets.  Now Im really confused.
