I have an issue with a dotnetnuke site being hosted on godaddy.  This site (lets call it www.ABCD.com) was running fine on a different godaddy account but had to be moved for business reasons.

The site and the database were copied over to the new account (default domain www.1234.com) and everything appeared to be running fine. Using www.1234.com in the portal alias table.

We brought the domain www.ABCD.com into the new godaddy account and made the root of that domain the folder were the dotnetnuke site is located.  We changed the values in the portal alias table to www.ABCD.com/dotnetnuke and tried to run the site.

Redirect looping errors was all that would display and the site would not load.  The only work around we have found was to keep www.ABCD.com pointed to the dotnetnuke site but place www.1234.com in the portal alias table (www.1234.com/websites/ABCD/dotnetnuke) .  This allows someone to go to www.ABCD.com and the site loads fine except for the messages of loading www.1234.com in the status bar of the browser.  This tactic also causes some issues with security settings on the browser because it is basically being forward to another domain.

We cannot make the default domain www.ABCD.com on the new godaddy account for business reasons.  Is there a way to have a dotnetnuke site run under a domain other then the default domain (we have been told no by godaddy’s support)?

This sounds to be related specifically to the way that GoDaddy manages the DNS configuration and the alias pointers in their environment.  I have not seen a hosting provider with a limitation like this in the past, so i cannot say for sure what you would need to do to get around it at GoDaddy.

You might consider a different hosting provider that will give you more control over the hosting and configuration of the site.
