Hello,

I created a index.xml file and added the line at the bottom. This didn't resolve my issue. Did I forget to do something else?

I realized what I did, I didn't name the file correctly.. I renamed the file index.doctype.xml and even though it showed me an issue I didn't know about before, it didn't fix the hover images within ie8.. Not sure why..

Isn't IE8 suppose to conform to more "standards"? Or is MS still doing things their own way?

I did some testing and this is what I found.

The host is configured for HTML 4 (legecy mode).

I created an index.doctype.xml file (for this portal) and added the following line to it:
<SkinDocType><![CDATA[<!DOCTYPE XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml...>

Then within IE8, I started the developer tools (F12). Off-the-bat, it shows the browser mode set to IE8 Compat View and the Document Mode set to IE7 Standards (Page Default).

Did some testing and this is what I found, if I change the Document Mode to IE8 standards, the CSS hover works fine. Anything running compatible mode or anything with IE7 doesn't work at all.

Any ideas whatelse may be needed for this to work properly? Thanks.. -Jeff

If your skin is named myskin.ascx, you have to name the doctype.xml file: myskin.doctype.xml

And yes, IE8 renders better then IE7- and all versions of IE render a lot better with an XHTML doctype in general

Do you have the module live somewhere so we can have a look at it?

Hello.. Currently, no the site is still on the development side of things..

What is odd is that within the developer tools, if you look at the css settings, it shows the hover properties and everything. Why it doesn't work, I haven't a clue.
