Hey everybody! This is my first time posting on here, and actually my first time building / transferring a website.  My boss was using a local web hosting company but was tired of the poor customer service so he had me transfer the domain name to Network Solutions.  I must have called at least a half dozen times before we transferred everything and each time the person said our website would work fine, that we would only have to do a couple of things.  Well, first I was getting an error that told me I had to change the customErrors tag in the web.config file to Off, which I did and that took care of that problem.  Now, I was able to see what the real error was, which was error 26 - Error Locating Server.  So I followed this link: http://aquesthosting.com/SQLError26    and added the line of code it said to add.  Now the page is back to looking like this:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: Sections must only appear once per config file.  See the help topic <location> for exceptions.

Source Error:

Line 251:        -->
Line 252:    <anonymousIdentification enabled="true" cookieName=".ASPXANONYMOUS" cookieTimeout="100000" cookiePath="/" cookieRequireSSL="false" cookieSlidingExpiration="true" cookieProtection="None" domain="" />
Line 253:    <membership defaultProvider="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="15">
Line 254: <providers> Line 255: <clear />

Source File: E:\0\1\12\59\1990874\user\2176466\htdocs\web.config    Line: 253

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3053; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3053

Now, I've tried deleting that particular line that's highlighted in red up above, but then it goes right back to giving me the message about changing my customErrors settings to Off, which I've verified countless times and it's always set to Off (with a capital O and everything).  Does anybody have any suggestions as to what to do?  Thanks!

if the section is not included twice in web.config. it might be inherited from parent folder or machine.config.

please make sure, not to install DNN inside a sub folder of an existing ASP.Net web site - if the error persists, request the hoster, not to configure membership in machine.config.

Your base problem is you didn't transfer to the new server correctly.  First, create the site on the new server, then restore the database from the old one.  That way your database and connection string are coirrect to begin with.
