While upgrading on localhost from 04.05.05 to 05.02.01 I was receiving the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error.
The upgrade was successful for everything no errors and I took a look at the logs in the SqlDataProvider and confirmed that there was no errors.

I am able to view any pages with custom modules.  I looked at the url and it does not contain https just can not access any pages under the Admin page or the Host page.

I have searched a couple of sites with no success.  Decided to upgrade instead to 04.09.05 to see if that would solve the problem and then upgrade again afterwards however receive the same problem.

Any assisstance would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Ryan Kelly

Ryan,

Don't know if you figured this out, and I'm not sure I understand exactly what issues you ran into, but it is my understanding that you have to handle the initial upgrade from DNN 4.5.x to any other version by manually editing the web.config. I believe the automatic upgrades work only after DNN 4.6.2.

Anyone else confirm?

What is the best upgrade path to get from 4.5.x to 5.2.1?

Yea aftre 4.06.02 you dont need to change webconfig.

So first 4.06.02 then to 4.09.05 then if you have Net 3.5 installled and running on SQL 2005 or 8 direct to 5.2.1.

However some sugest to go to 5.0.1 then 5.1.1 then 5.2.1 ......

By the way http://www.houseofnuke.com/ does not work....

Thanks, Jan.

And I found this information helpful, too: http://www.willstrohl.com/Blog/tabid/....

I noticed the problem with the House of Nuke link after I posted, and we're looking into it.

I originally had problems finding the paths of upgrades( Could only find the newer releases) however the link was posted.  I have not yet had a change to try this solution because of other work however I hope to test the solutions.

Thank you for the assistance,
Ryan Kelly
