I have downloaded the Source Installation for DNN5.2.1. When I unzip it, the web.config file is missing. If I open the solution in VS2008, the DotnetNuke.Modules.HTML is missing. However, I am able to build the solution.

But then, if i run the website, it fails with the following error, which I assume is due to the missing web.config. Have I missed something, is there information around somewhere that I need?

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Source Error:

Line 931: ' first call GetProviderPath - this insures that the Database is Initialised correctly
Line 932: 'and also generates the appropriate error message if it cannot be initialised correctly
Line 933:            strMessage = DataProvider.Instance().GetProviderPath()
Line 934: Line 935: ' get current database version from DB

Source File: C:\src\dnn5\Library\Common\Globals.vb    Line: 933

Found that if I copied a DNN514 web.config to the directory, the site installation starts up.

Would still like to know if the missing Html Module project is an issue, and how I should resolve it.

I've downloaded the Source zip for both 5.2.1 and 5.2.2 and the web.config seems to be missing.  I am using 7-zip to open the archive (as mentioned in the DNN webinar installation recording) - interestingly in that video I can catch a glimpse of web.config when the presenter shows the files downloaded in the archive.

Am I doing something wrong or is the web.config still missing from the source downloads?

I've figured it out - as explained in the notes on the codeplax page, there is no web.config with the 'Source' install - you must rename development.config to web.config and then set the entries for the db connections (both in connections and in appsettings) from there.

Do not copy a web.config from another system!

Also - during the install wizard, make sure you check the 'install as owner' checkbox otherwise the install will fail with an object not found error.
