I managed to get an old DNN 4.0.2 migrated to 5.1.2 and am using a SQL Server express 2008 now. Had a few connection string problems but everything seems ok now.

However, I have a BIG BIG problem! All my images are not displaying, the ones in the skin and the ones in the text/html modules. Please dont ask me to copy (Portals/0 or Portals/1) folders to wwwwroot coz i have quite a few installations and each installation has a few sites.

Any help is really appreciated.

are you still using same domain relative path for your site, e.g. site is installed in root folder prior and post the upgrade or in a virtual folder all the time?

Hi Sebastian,

My local system (which is working fine) is installed in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DC,

The server (which has a problem with the images) has it at c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DC however since i have to use the ip address to view the site, my portal alias is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/dc

Any light is really really appreciated as to what i can do.

I have created a virtualand application 'DC' for both.

it depends on the logical domain address, not the physical location of the site.

if you addressed the site on the server as www.dc.com, you need to install DNN in the root of a website locally as well. I suggest removing the virtual directory and application, move the site to c:\inetpub\dc to avoid inheritance and create a new web site "DC" for the site. you will need to add "DC" as localhost alias in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file (using a text editor).

If you are running on WindowsXP professional, you cannot create multiple web sites.. I suggest using free XP Pro IIS admin from www.jetstat.com/iisadmin

Hi Sebastian,

I did as as per your instructions, still no images :(

-Deleted virtual directory
-Moved physical folder to C:\inetpub\DC\(all files)
-Edited hosts file to the below mentioned

127.0.0.1       localhost
127.0.0.1    dc       (Also tried localhost/dc)

Any other suggestions sir?

BTW i managed to recreate the 'no image' situation in one machine, however in another machine it appears absolutely fine in c:\inetpub\wwwroot

Machine 1 - Laptop (Working fine, images are ok)
SQL Server Enterprise 2008 / WIN XP / IIS 5.1 / .NET 2.0-3.5
...System 32/drivers/etc has the following files = hosts1, lmhost1.sam, networks, protocol, services
Hosts1 content is only 127.0.0.1    localhost

Machine 2 - Desktop (Not working fine, images are not ok)
SQL Server Express 2008 / WIN XP / IIS 5.1 / .NET 2.0-3.5-4.0
...System 32/drivers/etc has the following files = hosts, lmhost.sam, networks, protocol, services
Hosts1 content was
127.0.0.1    localhost
Changed to
127.0.0.1       localhost
127.0.0.1    dc       (Also tried localhost/dc)

I can totally understand if the images in the text/html do not appear but the skin images should appear coz the images are in the same folder as the skin files, still working on it, Let me know if you need any more info sir, your advice is really appreciated :)
