Hi all, would really appreciate some help on this. Am running on an XP Pro machine locally using IIS5, SQL Express 2005. I am using the source version of the package as I have Visual Studio 2005 Pro and would like to do some developing of modules... if I ever get it working.

I have followed the instructions and conducted various searches on the forums to see if I can solve my issue without posting but no luck. I have set all permissions, created the database etc.. and I get the following error:

"Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke_2\Website\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\DotNetNuke_template.mdf'."

Would be really grateful if anyone could give me some pointers on this!

Many thanks,

Nellster

Have an update, if I refresh the page I get the following error;

"DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke_2\Website\App_Data\DotNetNuke.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. "

I have tested the connection to the database and it connects successfully.

hmmm....

I used to have this same issue for many days until I figured out that I just missed a step.  It can be caused by either your connection info in the web.config is wrong, or the SQL database authentication is not set correctly.
  • What version of DNN are you setting up?
  • What version of SQL are you using?  ex.  SQL 2000, SQL 2005, SQL 2005 Express, MSDE 2000?
  • What Operating system are you using?
  • What security authentication method are you using?  SQL or Local Windows?
With these answers, somebody should be more able to help.
