I am trying to accomplish a couple of things related to database access and manipulation and am looking at some best practices or different approaches to accomplishing this.

Scenario 1: I have a remote (not the DNN database)  SQL Server 2005 database that has some database tables in it that I would simply like to view information from. Customer information for example.

What would be the best way to accomplish this in DotNetNuke (5.1.4)? (Report Module, 3rd party module, etc.) For example: perhaps I have a page whereby the user puts in some parameters into a web form (first and last name), they click the search button and all the records with this first and last name are returned in a list as links? I click one of the links and it opens another page which shows me the information about that person.

Scenario 2: A typical example similar to the one above however I want to be able to add, edit, and delete records.

The key in these scenarios is that the records are all stored in a remote SQL Server database and not inthe DNN database.

Thanks
