When users signup, their country is automatically filled up in the Userprofile table.

How is this determined by DNN framework. Does it look at the originating IP address and then lookup Country code?

The reason I am asking is, I have many users signing up for my website and almost all of them endup as from country "Senegal", which is hard to digest.

Any one know how country is determined during registration?

Thanks in advance

alright after some excavations, I found GeoIP.dat under controls/CountryListbox

So it appears, this one is responsible for mapping ipaddress to country.

If I am not greedy, does this also lookup City, state, region where applicable?

the free version of the database doesnt do that, but you can buy the non free version here: http://www.maxmind.com/app/products

i am pretty sure it is not integrated in the region and city fields though
