 Hi I tried to add a favicon to a website running DotNetNuke.  I did it by uploading my .ico file and then renaming the old favicon.ico to favicon1.ico.  Then I changed mine ot favicon.ico.  After doing this the website stopped working and it gives this error on every page.

Server Error in '/team58' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

How do I fix this?

Thanks

Hi,

The error you are getting is not related to what you did with .ico files. The error screen you are getting indicates you how to get more details on the error you are getting.

1) do a backup copy of your web.config file
2) edit the web.config file, change customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" to customErrors mode="Off"
3) access your website, you wil get a yellow screen with more details on the error
4) post these details here if you do not find the cause by looking at the information

Once the problem is fixed, it is important for security reasons to put back customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" in your web.config file
