Is there a way to require or rewrite the url from http://domainname.com to http://www.domainname.com? I'm having problems with the page that has my ssl cert.

You could just do a redirect from the blank host name to the www host name.  There are any number of ways to do that, depoending on the access you have to the server.

Thanks Jeff,

I ended up finding a blog post somewhere that helped me. I added the following to the web.config and it worked out fine. I had tried to use the IIS7 url rewrite tool and couldn't get that to work but this is essentially what it would do anyway (had it worked).

<rewrite>
     <rules>
            <rule name="Add WWW prefix" >
                 <match url="(.*)" ignoreCase="true" />
                      <conditions>
                             <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" pattern="^domainname\.com" />
                      </conditions>
                  <action type="Redirect" url="http://www.domainname.com/{R:1}" redirectType="Permanent" />
           </rule>
    </rules>
</rewrite>
