I'm using DNN 5.2.2 and am using starter kit as I have multiple portal sites I'm working on and am using

<dnn:LINKS runat="server" id="dnnLINKS" CssClass="active" Alignment="Horizontal" Level="Root" />

as my menu as I want to have a css styled menu and not a table menu.

My question is this: I have certain pages that I want restricted to registered users BUT I still want them to appear in the menu. If the person is not registered/logged in, I want them to be re-directed to the login page. If I put in a link to a hidden/restricted page in the content of an unrestricted page, it works as expected and the user is re-directed to the login page. How can I display certain menu items but redirect them to the login page if they are not registered/logged in?. I want users to see menu items that they don't have access to in order to promote the benefits of registering to the site by showing them the menu items they don't have access to.

I've searched all the forums and the web for an answer so I apologize in advance if I've missed the answer somewhere.

Thanks,

Brian

As i Understand your Problem you want to give access to view the pages only to Registered user so follow these steps

1.Go to page settings and click the Include in menu check box which displays your page in the menu

2.Check the View permissions only to registerd users

Hope it helps!

Hi

if you set the view permissions to the registered user and set the include in menu checked, then only registered users can see it on menu and unregistered/unauthenticated users will not.

You can follow the tip provided by Sebastian on http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F...

If anybody has some other idea to do this, Please Help.

Thanks,

Another way would be to create a page visible for unauthenticated users only, this page should redirect to the page with the content and be restricted for registered users.

When a user who is not logged in clicks on the first of these pages, he will be redirected to the second page. As he is not logged in, he will be redirected to the login page, and after logging in successfully back to the second page again. He will not see the first page in the menu anymore, as this is only for unregistered users.

Best wishes
Michael
