 Hi All,

DotNetNuke has come a long way and continues to develop it's strength by adopting cutting edge technologies.

Therefore my question is, if one is starting out to develop extensions what is the recommended approach to the data layer?

We've had DAL, DAL + and LinQ?

Any opinions would be appreciated?

Colin

IMHO: DAL is a waste of time - not one customer every wanted a different data provider (they all used SQL) - and it takes ages longer to develop (even with CodeSmith templates.

It also depends if you are going to sell your modules or not - for my custom modules (like Poker Leagues on PokerDIY) - I use EntitySpaces object mapper - I guess it's a bit like LINQ.

For my other modules I have started to switch to DAL+ for faster dev.

So if I had to start a new module now I would probably go for LINQ considering 5.2.2 runs on ASP 3.5..
