my site has suddenly gone haywire. i can no longer use my modules like i previously could. what i am experiencing is stuff like this:

i go into the settings of a module and change a setting. the page then auto-reloads (as it should) but the setting will not be changed. for example....a simple text/html module.....i change the text and hit "update" - the page reloads - and the text goes back to what it was before i tried to change it. this kind of this is happening no matter which module i try to work with. SOMETIMES......if i do it 5 times in a row...it will suddenly "take" and my change takes effect.

in addition........

many other non-module problems are happening.....like.....i log in as host and click "view" mode and SOME things go into view mode and others stay in edit mode.

i have no idea what has happened or how to get my site back.
