I thought I use this forum to first announce our first iPhone app which is also a first for DotNetNuke platform as well as Catalook. This app and companion DNN Module is to make life easy for a busy shop owner on the move, running their Online Store using Catalook in DotNetNuke Portal. This is our first attempt in creating an App that can make the DNN Portal Administrator job easier when mobile and therefore is using an smart phones like iPhone.

Web Service Module and DotNetNuke & Store Activity Detail Module are developed for the DotNetNuke & Catalook Store Portal Activity application (Android version to follow this quarter) in Apple iPhone Store, which is designed to allow an Administrator of DotNetNuke/Catalook quick method for checking the activities of their Store and basic DotNetNuke users online type overview.

Once The Application is opened, it is quick & easy to check and see if any significant activities have happened in the recent days. If something important has happened, then with one click the shop owner can reach a page on their portal so to do further checks and interact with their users if necessary using these DNN modules.

I found that trying to explain the module and App ends up being too long and tedious. So please watch part one of the Video here on YouTube

Please note that, this module at $20 USD do require running alongside an iPhone application on Apple store and will not be useful if run on its own. This iPhone App is 5 USD and can only be purchased from App Store. Therefore, without both purchases, these modules have no value on their own.

Please also see the video explaining the configuration and how to use the app on your iPhone and iPod Touch. Please see it here in

You Tube or below on this page.

Very interesting stuff...  I'm going to start work soon on building a propietary DNN solution for a client that may involve building an iPhone app front-end for specific functionality.

Could you point me in the right direction (i.e. links, useful tips, etc.) for building a DNN module that integrates with an iPhone app?

We used web service approach to publish and consume from the DNN module to iPhone (we will have a version for Android coming soon). This part was the only difficult part of the solution,

Generally This community is more geared towards developing only on Microsoft Platform. So with release of win7 mobile series you will find a lot more work done by the community here as the know how is plentiful. so long you can silverlight then you can develop for win7 mobile. iPhone or Android developers normally don't use VS :)

in building this solution it was a challenge to get our team equipped for the varied tasks that was required to complete this solution. So far most of the Development enquiries we get, are with complexities weighted on the side of iphone  development which is much harder.  Therefore, it makes sense if you can architect your solution so that most of the development work is done in DNN rather than the iPhone.
