I just installed Dotnetnuke 5.2 on a new domain.  I setup the SMTP and hit the test link and get email sent.

When I try and register a new account I get the following message "There was an error sending confirmation emails - There is a problem with the configuration of your SMTP Server. Mail was not sent.. However, your user account was created successfully."

When I do a newsletter it send out the email with no error.

Thanks

Joe

What is the email address you are sending from when testing or sending the newsletter (check the host setting for email address for the SMTP test email).

Perhaps your ADMIN account is setup with a different email address/domain and your SMTP server is blocking that email from going out. You can check on the Admin Site Settings page to see who the default Admin account is, then you can edit that account's user information from the Users page to see their defined email address.

If you read the error message thoroughly you'll see that the problem is with the way you're sending SMTP emails.

Your SMTP server is likely only sending emails "from" a specific domain, and perhaps your from address in DNN isn't from that domain.

Do you know the requirements for your SMTP server?
